Ready to Fall is the first novel in the Wingmen series of standalone, lighthearted small town romances set in the Pacific Northwest. Each book can be read without having read the previous titles.
I had never read any other work by this writer and this beginning was not to say the best. A modest book, readable, but not certain of those that leave their mark, in my opinion. The story between Diane and John, the two main characters, takes a long time before reaching a turning point. It is not one of those novels where you get to the highlight in a few bars. Nonetheless, the book is pleasant enough. I'm usually more oriented to stories with love at first sight, but I have not despised this story.
The male POV makes the narration more interesting: I prefer this point of view to the female one, because it brings me more into the psychology of the male character, which is generally what attracts me most in a romance novel.
The story, however, is a right mix of romanticism, passion and fun. The style is flowing but I can not say it is one of those books that you read all in one breath and suffer when you get to the last page.
Even the characters appeared to me quite insignificant, given that the type alpha-beardy-lumberjack male it’s not really my thing. But even the female character did not convince me. In general, therefore, a (long) book to read between other important readings, to have in your hands something light and easy to digest.
